The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced a proposed rule designed to experiment with a nationwide, two-phase “Medicare Part B Drug Payment Model.” This demonstration, drafted without any stakeholder input, will adversely affect the care and treatment of GI patients with complex conditions such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and force more care into the more expensive hospital setting.
Email your U.S. Representatives and U.S. Senators:
DHPA has joined more than 300 organizations in opposing this proposed demonstration. Congress also needs to hear from physician, administrator and patient constituents who oppose the rule.

Hello, I am a constituent of [Representative or Senator]. I am calling to voice opposition to the recent proposal by CMS to test new Medicare Part B Payment Models. The proposed model will adversely affect some of the nation’s oldest and sickest patients who struggle with complex conditions and are working with their physicians to find the appropriate treatment.
Requiring patients and the providers who care for them to participate in this initiative may force them to switch from the most appropriate medication – or force patients to seek care in hospitals, a much more expensive site of care. Please contact CMS and ask them to withdraw this proposal immediately. Thank you for your consideration.
