Every year, Congress is forced to try and mitigate significant Medicare cuts to physician reimbursement. This constant patchwork of mitigating cuts is unsustainable for independent practices.
Tell your Member of Congress that the system must be fundamentally reformed to tie Medicare reimbursement to increasing practice costs by linking Medicare reimbursement to the Medicare Economic Index (MEI).
In Medicare, the only care settings that do not have any mechanism for increasing payment in any way to track inflation are independent medical practices. If reimbursement does not keep up with costs, physician shortages will worsen and more physicians will be forced to consolidate and join hospital systems, which will only drive up the cost of care.
Independent physicians and our patients deserve a predictable payment system that matches Medicare reimbursement to the cost increases experienced by our private practices.
Let your Senators and Representatives know they must support physician payment reform.
